The Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center was the first high school for African Americans in Harford County. The school was established over 110 years ago as a white frame building in the center of the well maintained property. A larger brick addition was extended in the 1930s toward Alliance Street. The school hosts community cultural events. The museum can be visited on appointment. One can see displays tracing education of African American students in the county and state from the post-Civil War era. Effort to improve the structure as well as organize educational and cultural events continue apace.
