Maryland was on the border during the US Civil War in many ways. The Alfred B Hilton Park recognizes the only Harford County resident and one on only 16 African American Union soldiers who received the Cogressional Medal of Honor for his service in that war. The Park is located near the original family farm north of Havre de Grace on Gravel Hill Road off Level Road. The Park has several historical plaques to explain Hilton's role is carrying and protecting the US colors during battles in Virginia. The Park has plenty of parking, play equipment for children and a large sports field. It is a beautiful setting to recognize this hero.
