We have done a bit of traveling, but were somewhat disappointed here. We walked over the the visitor's center to find the doors locked. It was a Saturday mid morning. There was no sign to tell us hours of operation, etc. We walked around for a bit and then left.

I visited this center several years ago in the winter. I went back in September for a late summer visit. This is a cool place with a lot of walking paths. There is a kayak launch and rentals are available. Apparently members get kayak usage with their membership. This is a little piece of heaven. It’s quiet and very scenic They have an aviary rescue on site. The volunteer spoke with was very friendly and helpful.

CBEC has 100s of acres of preserved hummocks, marshes, and wetlands along the Chesapeake Bay in Queen Anne's County. Besides its visitor center with very informative displays about the area's native wildlife, you can sign up to take a kayak out in the tidal marsh area on the Chester River, You can also walk along a lovely woodland trail around Lake Knapp or the wooded Marshy Creek Trail. As you walk, you will encounter turtles, rabbits, and raccoons among the grasses while seeing osprey and eagles overhead. It's a very child-friendly introduction to QAC's wildlife.

I've visited CBEC numerous times, over the past five years, to kayak, picnic and to frequent the aviary and visitor's center. It's a beautiful wildlife spotting location. It's a great nature spot. CBEC has a very helpful and accommodating staff.

We’ve been members here for years-I love their camps, programs, and events! Your membership (quite affordable) includes use of their large fleet of kayaks to tour the area by boat and explore. There are gorgeous trails for hiking and running and plenty of beachfront opportunities to spy an osprey or eagle, turtles, fish—-and yes—snakes! There is a raptor rescue area with about 4 or 5 large cages with owls and hawks—they’re beautiful. When we have family visit we take them there for some reason nice kayaking. One important thing to note-bring Bug Spray! They are pretty awful but manageable with spray and not an issue on a windy day.

Great place to visit as a family. There are marked trails down to Eastern Bay highlighting local wildlife and birds with an observation tower kids love to climb and a great place for photography of the surrounding area. The Information Center at CBEC offers exhibits of local artists, as well as a variety of children's programs, and lectures on conservation and history of the area for adults. In the summer there are a number of camps programs for kids including building an oyster reef. You can reach CBEC by car, kayak or canoes. They also have kayaks for rent and use with some of their programs.

We were greeted by two friendly and helpful staff who explained the grounds and showed us where the bird aviary was. We loved the beautiful views on our hike and a visit with the rescued birds.

We canoed here (but they rent kayaks) and it was lovely. We saw several types of water birds and song birds on this trip.
At the visitors center, pick up a map so you can find your way to the rehabilitation aviary (owls, hawks, etc). Then visit their greenhouse dome and outdoor garden. After that, just follow whichever trails you wish.

We took our grandson (5 yrs) to this center for fun and entertainment....wrong choice! 100% of available displays were outside - it was very windy and in the 20's!!!. There were no displays, presentations or hands-on anything inside. Needless to say, we didn't stay long and did a very quick outside tour of about 5 bird cages. Then back to the car for warmth. HAd a nice drive to and from, but not much there to see or do. :-(

No, they do not have a restaurant or cafe on-site, however, there are many restaurant options within 3-5 miles of this attraction. I hope this helps!!!
