Have enjoyed a spring fishing trip there over the past several years. Savage River area has unique tundra foliage and fairly secluded fishing opportunities for that time of year.

We have camped here several times, and have had great experiences on each visit. The camp sites are well maintained, and each one has a picnic table, a counter with a pole for hanging a lantern, and a fire ring with an adjustable grate for...More

This was our third visit to New Germany State Park. The first two times we camped, and this time we stayed in one of the cabins. The cabin was rustic and cozy. It included a small kitchen, bathroom, and a wood-burning stove. Our favorite thing...More

We visited for a day trip in winter to hike some of the many trails. The park is large with many well marked trails of varying difficulty. The trails are all groomed for the cross country skiers who visit but are shared by hikers. There...More

Simple pleasures. Read about its origins! Nice lake, and staying in the rangers cabin was cool. In the winter with good snow, the cross county skiing is fabulous.

Almost hate to give this place a good review for fear of more people going there! Arrived on Friday afternoon and set up--no other campers in the 10 or so site dog friendly loop. Couple more sites taken on Saturday, both left the next day....More

I see there are no water hook-ups, but is there access to water throughout the campground, like taps to fill up a container? Do I need to bring in all my own water for drinking, cooking, washing up, etc?

There is a water hook up close to phone booth (the one that says YELL for emergency!) and you can fill your containers there.

We don't ski but did see the designated trails. The trail heads are near the parking lot across from the lake and at the end of the little road that has several of the cabins along it. There may be others, particularly... More
