We've lived in Calvert for a year now, and have only tried a few beaches in the area so far. Although this wasn't my favorite beach, it did have it's perks. Pros: it's only 10 minutes from our house; you park right by the beach; nets for jellyfish Cons: you have to pay per visit; expensive; nets for jellyfish; small... More

On a very hot Friday afternoon, we drove to this beach on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay for an easy day trip from DC. The beach is a rough and yellowish grainy sand, except for the few feet at the edge of the bay where it is white sand. Fortunately, there were few people on the beach so... More

The beach was fairly nice. You pay per person for entry. We went on a Sunday afternoon as some were leaving which opened up some of the shaded areas on the beach. They have a net to help prevent jellyfish from invading the swimming area. My only dislike is the lack of adequate restrooms for the number of people who... More

I've been coming here for many years and it's a great place to launch a boat. Tackle shop has the "core" items you would need to catch fish. I wish there was better security. I used to leave my boat in the dry lot, but after two break-ins, I just trailer it there. Everyone is always nice, and they do... More

Great beach, few people. There are picnic tables and grills available. Some tables under trees, and a play ground for children. Another bonus is a net in the water for keeping out the jellyfish. If you look real hard some tiny sharks teeth are found.

I went to this beach because of all the positive reviews, but can't understand why they are so good. Maybe we came during the wrong time of year. The water was murky and the swim area had seaweed everywhere! If you ventured outside of the swim area the get away from the seaweed, you are liable to get sung by... More

We drove in and spent some time here. Finding small shark teeth on the sand was neat. The water pollution turned our eyes really red, that was a first.

It's a pretty small stretch of beach, but I do not understand why you have to PAY to use the beaches in MD. The sand is cleaner than most of the other beaches we've been to in the area and it's a great place to watch the fireworks on the 4th (go after dusk so you don't have to pay).

Beach was clean. We went on a Thursday and it was not crowded. I'm sure that on weekends they are packed. Bathrooms were clean except for the sand that was on floors from peoples feet. It has nice picnic area with some shade. Bring umbrellas because shaded areas go fast. Main purpose for visit was shark teeth hunting. We found... More

Enjoyed the location. Tables and grills are great. Beach and picnic areas are well maintained. Although it was very crowded when we were there, people were respectful and noise controlled.
