Stopped here to get out of the rain. Gorgeous caverns and formations but the guide was definitely in speed mode. If she had slowed it down a bit, it would have been perfect.

The guide was fairly new but still knowledgeable. The history was interesting. If you are claustrophobic it may not be for you. It gets pretty narrow down in there at times. But it was still a cool tour.

Crystal Grottoes Caverns is listed as the #1 Thing To Do in Boonsboro for a reason. Cheryl, my wife, and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary with a stay at Inn Boonsboro (reviewed in a separate TA post). We’ve visited a handful of caves and...More

This is a fantastic cave, lots of really interesting formations -- and the tour guide was very knowledgeable (and humorous!. It's amazing what water can hollow out and form over 200 million years. The tour is pricey and a bit rushed; I would have liked...More

This is by no means what you would expect from any of the larger, commercialized caverns that can be found across the country (Lurary Caverns, etc). These caverns are privately owned and operated and are found in the middle of nowhere. Make sure to bring...More

The caverns are small compared to others like Luray or Mammoth. But there are more formations per square foot at Crystal. You can be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Photos are allowed, but you have to be quick. The tour is only about 30-45 minutes,...More

I would say they are not. There are some narrow passages and a pray wouldn't fit through. There are also steps leading down to th cavern. I agree that a child under 4 or 5 might enjoy it for a little while but since they... More
