Best collection in Maine

A recent donation has made this the largest art collection in Maine. The college is right off the highway and a great stop if you need to break up the drive.

I always see something new when I go to this museum. I enjoyed the folk art exhibit I viewed during my most recent visit.

Nice building with small, decent (paintings), art collection. Good enough to visit if you can get in for free! I saw what I needed to see in 5 minutes.

We had some time in town so drove to this museum. What a great pleasure! The Landry collection is wonderful with the quality and variety of art pieces plus the weather vane display. Small museums are so much better than the large ones to avoid tiring so go see this one. And don't forget some cash to donate in the... More

Went on a rainy day, but walking into the museum cheered all of us up. So many different exhibits and touched every sense!!! Never knew what might be around the next corner.

A versatile and beautifully curated museum with audio-commentary and something there for children (current exhibit of weathervanes and old shop signs), for traditionalists (colonial portraiture), for those with modernist sensibilities, (Sol LeWitt and, if you like him, Alex Katz) and usually a political edgy exhibit as well (such as Margolies' stunningly powerful feminist quilting project against violence done to women.)... This free museum is a must see for any art lover visiting the Waterville, Maine area. A large collection of works by Alek Katz along with traditional fine art pieces from around the world are presented in an attractive, modern building.

Had heard about this place but had never taken time to stop by. There was a free Baroque concert today, so I went early and toured the museum. After the concert, I finished my tour. Very nicely done, very spacious and a nice eclectic selection of American art. Wish they had some photography exhibits as well.
