Bug Light is one of the best places to go in South Portland. There is lots of green space and a paved walkway that takes you along the water and right to the lighthouse. It's a great place to walk dogs (on leash and an off-leash area), have a picnic, or sit on one of the benches watching ships enter... More

Great smell of ocean and fresh air Fantastic view of this landmark These light houses were key to protect sailors from rocky Maine coast Enjoy walking the trails

I visited on June 9, 2015 during a roadtrip with three other friends. Since we are from PA, we don't see a lot of lighthouses. Therefor we enjoyed everyone we visited, and this one was no different. It may be the smallest lighthouse I've ever seen, which makes it pretty awesome! There is plenty of parking and it is free,... More

We visited Portland on a cruise , this took in Kennebunkport a really charming Maine town - home to GW Bush ! It is also worth taking a boat trip to look take in lobster fishing. The Wedding cake is also close by ( worth seeing but not worth spending time visiting). The Portland light house is one of the... More

Nice and cool walk to the lighthouse. The landscape and seacape are both really pretty and quite relaxing. Definitely, a must-see in Maine.

It is a long walk out to the Lighthouse, with many wide gaps between the stones. The wall can be slippery at times. Make sure you are well rested and wear nice rubber sole walking shoes. It is really worth the walk :-)

Portland Breakwater Light is also known as Bug Light. It is located directly across the Fore River from the City of Portland, looking towards the Old Port. A beautiful park now surrounds Bug Light and there are numerous events that take place here during the spring, summer and fall. The lighthouse is occasionally opened for visitation by the South Portland... More

small little park that is worth the drive (and maybe getting lost). we brought sandwiches from Amatos and made lunch out of the visit. we only saw the lighthouse from the outside. but it is quiet beautiful albeit small in the industrial side of Portland.

Gotta love the Bug Light! It's been painted since we were here in 2010. It's now very pretty especially at twilight. This one is one of our favorites! It's very easy to get to as well!
