Hidden gem along Highway 17, nice pull off and picnic area by the falls and canyon. Small country store across the road with various gifts and some food including ice cream. Head to the bridge over the canyon for a good view of the waterfalls.

A cool area. We were able to climb on the rocks and get some great pics to remember that part of our trip. There is a neat little store/gift shop just across the road from the waterfall called coos Canyon Gift Shop that specializes in...More

Beautiful spot to stop and rest on the road. There are places to swim and soak your feet. Stunning rock formations.

We loved visiting this area. From the campground to the falls everything was nice. The food locally was expensive, same with drinks, so I'd pack food next time, but its always nice to help out locals as well so who knows. Great time all in...More

I've been stopping here for over 30 years and I never get tired of the location. The outhouse has improved; it's always clean and it is kept stocked every time we come by which is a bonus after being on the road for hours. The...More

Plenty of parking, short walk from your car over the little bridge for a better view of the area. Clean outhouse available across the bridge and a gift shop with gold panning across the street.

We stopped here as we were working our way around Western Maine viewing the various waterfalls. There was plenty of water after all the rain we've been having. Picnic tables are available if you want to sit and watch the water as it cascades.

Stunning views of the canyon! I can't believe we found it - I thought for sure we were lost - but around a couple of bends and lo and behold there it was!

I am so sorry for my delayed reply - I am not on here very often.... But to answer your question no hike is required. You can see a lot of the beauty from the parking lot / picnic area / bridge.
