It's always wonderful to say hello (or goodbye) to this gorgeous region by pulling off the main road at this overlook to savor the panoramic views of the Rangeley Lakes region. Something spiritual about this area!

On a recent trip to Rangeley we stopped at the scenic view area on Route 17 known as Height of Land. The views are stunning. You can see the vast mountains of Western Maine and Mooselookmeguntic lake up to Rangeley. I have been all over New England and this is one of the most spectacular! If you're in the area... More

This is a beautiful scenic look out with a nice place to park your car. This is only a short way (1/2 mile or so) from Appalachian Trail. You can see lots of mountains and several lakes. It is a must see when visiting Maine.

We had seen this attraction listed in Maine attractions & we drove 20+ miles on Route 17 to see it. We are simply amazed at the wonderful scenic overlook appropriately called the "Dramatic Overlook". It is indeed a picture taker's paradise that features an incredible view of Mooselookmeguntic Lake. If you are in the area, NOT TO BE MISSED attraction!

Everytime I take Route 17, I always make sure I go over and take a moment to take in the incredible View and Silence of height of the land.

I've been enjoying this view for 45 years and never tire of it. Western exposure makes it perfect for a sunset picnic. Take a stroll on the Appalachian trail which crosses the road at this point as well.
