Stopping to enjoy the observatory on top of the bridge is well worth the time. It makes you wonder why more bridges don't have this fun feature!

If you are in the area...stop and take the elevator to the top of the observatory tower. The view is amazing. The staff will give you a quick history lesson for the area and brief construction facts of the bridge and tower. Very interesting!

There is not a lot to say about this except that you don't want to miss it. The views are spectacular.

Just steps away from and actually attached to Ft. Knox is teh Bridge. Take the elevator for small fee to the top of teh Tower. On a clear day you might see Mount Katahdin. Beautiful and kid friendly.

We had the great advantage to view this spectacular bridge from underneath whilst on a tall ship. The added extra was seeing a ship mate climb up the mast to lower the top so that we could go underneath. Marvellous.

Wow, spectacular! We just happened upon this bridge and observatory. We loved it! Definitely go up into the observatory. It is cold up there, dress warmly in chilly weather and wear gloves. Railings are cold. Elevator to the top but some step walking but there...More

I have been to the bridge multiple times and still enjoy going to the observatory. It puts a real perspective on why Fort Knox was built.

This beautiful, cable bridge over the Penobscot River is more than 2,000 feet long, but be sure to go up to the observatory in the West tower for great views! It was the first observation tower in the U.S. and is the tallest public-bridge observatory...More
