We took the ferry from Portland out to Peak Island. You can rent bikes, golf carts or walk the island. It is absolutely beautiful. The ferry ride is great and very reasonable too.

There are several hospitals in the area, all of them within 3 miles of the Casco Bay Lines. From I-295 take exit 7 - Franklyn St all the way to the end. There is a parking garage right next to the ferry.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved and leashed. Expect a reasonable surcharge.
