Commercial Street in downtown Portland, runs right along the harbor front. There are numerous bars, restaurants, hotels and shops selling everything you can imagine. Ferries leave from here also. It makes for an enjoyable walk, however the waterside of Commercial is not as interesting as...More

Loved browsing the shops and the wharf. Great for an ice cream and people watching. Very tourist friendly.

Many wonderful places to eat and shop; Fun to just wander around the town down by the water. Many choices for water trips. All good.

Lots to do on the waterfront in Portland. We ate there twice, plus strolled around. Lots of boat/cruise activities that we'll try next time.

Spent the day checking out the small shops and sampling delicious foods. There were a lot of local artisans who were happy to talk about their creations. While we were near the waterfront, there was no large area to sit and enjoy the water. I...More

It's very rare that I get that disappointed with a trip as I am with Portland. I found it polluted, overpriced, missing points of interest... Do not recommend.

My family and I grabbed some gelato at Gorgeous Gelato and walked around to see the boats. There were beautiful flowers everywhere, and everything was clean and well-kept.

Commercial street is filled with nice little shops and restaurants to stroll through. Take your time to check out local wares and don't forget to take a break and have a sweet treat at one of the many tempting spots

I assumed you meant for a dinner out. The fish market on the waterfront has a variety of fresh fish to buy and take home.

Yes, everything will be open. Except for some beaches/resorts, Maine never closes!

I think it was called Blue Lobster. It is on commercial street right across the street from the tour ticket booth. It is on the corner. They had a pretty good selection as well as some $6.00 t-shirts. Good luck.
