Victoria Mansion, also known as the Morse-Libby House, is the finest example of residential design from the pre-Civil War era in America. With superb architecture and well-preserved original interiors that were among the most lavish and sophisticated in their day, it is an unparalleled document of America’s highest aspirations in architecture, interior design, and the decorative arts. Our history, a quick tour, and our present-day efforts at restoring the Mansion convey an impression of the significance of this unique site, which is of national and even international importance.

Each Christmas season, the rooms in this Victorian mansion are extensively well decorated. Especially because most of the furnishings are original, it feels like the rich owners invited you into a party. There aren't a lot of rooms, so the entrance fee may feel steep, but the money is going to on-going restoration. The docents are knowledgeable and friendly.

We arrived shortly after it opened on its first day and there had already been quite a turnout but we got in quickly and proceeded with the self-guided tour. It was one day in which they allowed photography so a lot of pictures were taken. Most of the house is still with original furnishing and the woodwork and carpentry artistry... More

This “summer home” mansion by New Orleans hotelier Ruggles Morse may be over the top, but the woodwork and furnishings, created by New York-based Gustavo Herter, a German cabinet maker and interior decorator, is gorgeous and very well preserved in this house. So much of the original furnishings survive, thanks to donations from Morse’s descendants. The docents we talked to... More

Victoria Mansion is well worth a visit while you're in Portland. Given the fact that 97% of the furnishings are original, you truly get a sense of how the house was lived in. On going renovations also speak to the desire to keep educating and maintaining its historic significance.

This was an amazing Mansion to see. It was interesting that it only had 2 Bedrooms for as large as it was and that it was built where it was built. It was amazing to think they built in 2 Years!

My husband and I walked along the oceanfront to see the Victorian Mansion in late October 2016. It was a great glimpse of Portland's docks and the easy walk. The Mansion itself was delightful. 97% of the furnishings are original to the house, making it quite an experience. The docents were very helpful and knowledgeable.

The mansion is very well presented and the guides are helpful and seem to have a good grasp of the history. I do not think that a visitor will be disappointed.
