Ship traffic here runs the gamut from lobster boats to oil tankers and cruise lines; also look for the many photogenic lighthouses.

We've traveled by ferry boat over to Peaks for over 50 years and we're always treated well. We feel safe and know the boat won't have any issues

Portland is a great city and viewing it from the water is a must. The Casco Bay Ferry has a short trip to Peaks Island that allows you to see the city from a new perspective

We took a kayak tour in Casco Bay. Unfortunately, weather was terrible and we only checked the harbor area. And the views over the islands. This was my fave place in Portland.

We did a bit of both....lots of walking along the walking/bike trail from old port to the east end, but also enjoyed a boat ride in the bay. Beautiful pictures!

It was sunny and warm the day we walked by the Casco Bay. Families were out picnicking in the area it was so nice. We got great pictures to take home with us.

if you're interested in Maritime history, Portland Harbor Museum is a small charming spot to visit. Check out Schooner Fare's Portland Town on youtube for local music.
