Whether climbing a mountain, entering a bear's den, role-playing crewmembers on a 40-foot schooner or manning a space shuttle, children will have a blast at this highly interactive museum. Most of the museum is geared to children aged one to 11, but young teens will like the computer lab and the camera exhibits. There's also a play area just for toddlers.

Just want to say first, we support all the children museums of Maine. I feel the one in portland is looking very tired and perhaps it’s time to consider a revamping. All things need maintenance eventually and Portlands time is up. On my last visit...More

First time here. Great interactive activities. Reasonably priced. Rode the Down Easter Amtrak up from Mass and took the city transportation. Found out after, if you go to the Cafe on Amtrak you can get a FREE pass for the Portland Metro Bus. Many great...More

The museum staff is very accommodating and helpful to families with small kids. Exhibits are popular with kids, especially fire truck, Vietnamese fireworks, car repair shop and ball room.

We saw a production of The Wizard of Oz with our 4-yr old and had a blast! The museum seemed amazing too, although we didn't have time to check it out. Well worth the price of admission.

A cute small children's museum. I wish I read the TripAdvisor reviews before we stopped. We have seven and nine year olds were occupied for only a short period of time. A great place for younger kids but once your kids get a little bit...More

A great place to take young ones. Has many experiential and educational activities, especially the lobster boat with lobster trap to haul on board, the grocery store with check-out, the cow milking, and the vet's clinic. Our young ones really enjoyed our visit there.

There would be some things that would be interesting for an 8.5 yo, but the way the museum is set up, it definitely looks younger - things are small/low and most of it seems to be geared to ages 3-6. Each child is different... More

Two hours would be perfectly adequate. The star show and touch tank are really nice programs for the kids. So, you may be there a little longer to get both of those in.
