Recommend this museum. The permanent collection is well curated and the outdoor sculpture garden is well worn a visit. Take advantage of the the wi-fi narration.

Relatively small, but some excellent material displayed well. We especially enjoyed the animal exhibits on the fourth floor. Well worth a one hour visit...

The museum must not be missed. The American masters are principally showcased but with enough European icons to satisfy even a well seasoned museum goer.

Although not huge, they had good representative pieces from the full ranges of artists. Some museums will have a piece but not a good example, these were excellent. For a small city, this museum-goer wasn't expecting much but the Portland Museum of Art was absolutely marvelous, with an extensive collection of art and famous artists. It is well worth the visit.
