New to TripAdvisor so had to put in a plug for my favorite museum! I have been going since they opened. Always something new and different. Best to visit during one of their many events, run from spring to early fall. My favorites are the Airshow Ralley and Labor Day Motorcycle shows. Shows are not pretentious, show what you drove!... This is a wonderful museum featuring all types of transportation but mainly automobiles, and airplanes. As the wife of an antique automobile lover, I found it more interesting than I expected. We live a couple of hours north of the museum but make the trip several times each summer for the different shows and events that are held there.

An amazing collection of cars, motorcycles, small planes from the early part of the 20century. Permanent and changing exhibits. Currently race cars. Can visit restorers in the car or airplane hangers when they are there. Special weekend events in summer. Even though we are not car or plane buffs we always stop here when we can when we are in... I agree with another review in that this is a gem unknown to most people. We were looking for a "General Store" famous for its hamburger and stumbled onto this place. There are over 150 exhibits of cars, motorcycles, and aircraft, many of which are still in working condition. It'll take your breath away. Definitely worth visiting. Cost is very... More

We thoroughly enjoyed looking at the vintage aircraft, motorcycles, and cars. Even better, we got to fly in a 1933 Waco, a biplane! That is an experience, we'll never forget. We made the arrangement to do so and with luck the winds calmed enabling us to fly from the museum location. It was thrilling!

We had a rainy day to kill on our Maine vacation. We stopped in at the OHTM without any expectations. We were amazed at the extensive collection of cars, bikes, and airplanes. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We took tons of photos and greatly enjoyed the video presentations that the museum had to offer. Very well done. I... More

I was incredibly impressed with this museum on our trip. We happened to go on the weekend they were having a special motorcycle exhibit, and I would get season passes and watch the calendar and go monthly if I lived in Maine. The different exhibits they put on are so great, and there is time and effort put into them,... More

We loved the museum. Cars, bicycles, trucks, motorcycles and even airplanes. Displayed in a beautiful, clean, uncluttered environment. It was a joy to walk around and view all of the modes of transportation at our leisure. Definitely a must see.

we were here in 2003 and loved it so much that we had to see it again this year. The weekend we were here, there was a vintage car show going on Saturday and Sunday. Boy did we score on that deal! For $16 per adult, admission to the museum, we could also enter the vintage car show as well... More

Rockland has 7 museums and we were told the Transportation museum would be the best and we certainly enjoyed it. Besides the usual cars and motor cycles, this museum includes bicycles, planes and even wagons - both gypsy and covered!
