We have canoed and kayaked on the lake many times but never been able to cover as much territory as this tour does. Jeff is a wonderful guide, and in the middle of the pandemic this is a relaxing and revitalizing experience. The lake is so beautiful, and the woods are so serene. Know that you can do this and enjoy it without worry.

This tour, offered by Master Maine Guide Jeff Hinman, was just the right combination of history, breathtaking scenery and local tidbits. On a cool September Sunday, Jeff made sure there were extra sweatshirts, fleeces and hot chocolate for his guests. He also provided binoculars for us to share and water and granola bars, if you needed a snack. We saw bald eagles and loons and miles and miles of mountains covered with colorful foliage. Jeff’s knowledge of the lake’s history was extensive and he welcomed questions. This tour is a must see if you are in the area.

Have wanted to take this tour of Flagstaff Lake for several years. We were at our camp on vacation this past summer and emailed Jeff and he responded right away with a couple different options and we booked in with him. My Grandmother lived in the town of Flagstaff before it was flooded by Central Maine Power. This was a great tour, Jeff was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable. All aspects of this tour was great and he was right on time meeting us.

40$ for a boat ride, that's what this is. Up the lake and back. I would not recommend going. Really disappointed

Guide Jeff Hinman picks you up at public dock and then entertains you with the history of Flagstaff Lake, which was created by damming the Dead River to provide water for the utilities controlled water release for the 6 downstream hydro electric damns. The cost - 3 towns were lost to the new Lake waters..,, Jeff gives you the history of those towns as well as providing you opportunities to see Hawks, lions, Eagles and Maine Moose( we saw all), reasonably priced, it is a two and a half hours you will thoroughly enjoy! Under the shadows of the Bigelow Mountains, the Lake with its limited development is a quiet inviting environment with very few people on it. Highly recommend it!

Jeff met us at the boat launch on Route 27 in Stratton. He greeted us and the other guests on the pontoon boat tour. The trip took just over 2 hours with Bald Eagles, Loons, and incredible views. Jeff's great personality and knowledge of the area and wildlife is extensive which made the tour very enjoyable.
