Visited with our three-generation family. The children were enchanted by the birds on exhibit, especially the owls. We walked along the boardwalk trails only, enjoying the wild birds keeping just out of reach. The kids also liked finding the remains of chipmunks' dinners along the trail. We also spent a lot of time in the small museum talking with the... More

My girlfriend and I were looking for some quieter places to walk around. We read about woodland gardens and thought that would be perfect. Well, we didn't find any woodland gardens, but we were pleasantly surprised by the expansive property and rugged trails. It was far more rugged than Ocean Path at Acadia, with roots, rocks, and occasionally poorly-marked trails.... More

While there are many places to take a bird walk, this is a great place to take a walk and see birds without having to drive and park somewhere out of the way. It is a great non-profit that needs our support.

We were hoping to actually see some wildlife or birds. They were not "actually" open, but there were a few trails/loops you could take that were open. They had a map, but it was pretty useless. The trails were marked on the trees initially (colors painted on the bark), but about 1/2 way in to the "white" loop, all markings... More

Birdacre is a non-profit nature preserve in Ellsworth, Maine. They have miles of native Maine trails, bird rehabilitation facility, and an educational nature center. My wife and I spent an enjoyable morning walking the trails, photographing the birds and plants, and visiting with the delightful staff. A great way to get away from the hussle-and-bussle of Bar Harbor. No entry... More

We go to Birds Acre every year. We love seeing the birds that we wouldn't normally see. The museum was closed and so was the store, but it's run by volunteers so that's understandable. The boys loved it and so did we. Can't wait to go next year

Great spot tucked away on the outskirts of town. Many trails to enjoy, our young boys love running thru the woods. Nice info center/gift shop. The park is free. Worth a donation for certain.

We visit Birdsacre during every trip to Ellsworth. It's a nice little wooded walk in the midst of a busy shopping area, and a photo of the Queens Throne is worth the trip. We also enjoy visiting with the owls and other sanctuary birds.

We visited during winter hours so the cages were covered over and the gift shop was closed. It was also raining the day we visited. We hiked the red trail and it was very tranquil. It was a little strange that we could hear the cars and trucks even though we felt removed from the world. Everything changed when we... More
