Every year our family ventures up the mount for a look over Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay. It's a view that never gets old. It' a relatively quick stop if you're traveling up or down the Coast of Maine and yes, it's worth the stop.

Had a great view of the area. It is so majestic and beautiful view of the harbor. You can walk all the way to the top, but we drove our car up and gave a couple who were quite tired after the long walk a...More

Every picture of Camden Maine for the travel brochures are taken from the top of Mount Battie. Make sure it's a clear day and you won't be disappointed. May be better when they re-open the castle viewing area.

It was 80's but we still hiked to see the famous view of the prettiest harbor in the States. The Camden Hills State Park has hikes of Ocean View (3 miles and pretty difficult) Mount Battie (less difficult) and other longer, more strenuous hikes. You...More

You can hike or drive to the summit of the mountain. Either way, the view is well worth the trip. Beautiful 180 views of Camden Bay. There is a great map showing all the islands off the coast. Highly recommend

You can hike or drive up to Mount Battie. The hike is fun with rocks to climb over. Once you reach the top there is a small tower made from foundation stones of a former resort that was at the top of the mountain. The...More

This is just what I wanted when planning our trip to Maine. A serene setting, beautiful views and nature. Walt Disney could not have crafted it better.

The road is paved, two-laned and 1.5 miles in length. Tour buses and motorhomes can climb/descend it with no problem.

It usually opens in May and closes after Thanksgiving to cars. You can always park and walk up the road year round.

There is a parking lot so you may always park and hike up the mountain year round. No sledding hills that I know of but the town owns a ski mountain called the snow bowl that you can sled at.
