It's not hard to get to the top of Mount Battie -- you can hike from town or drive all the way up. And either way, it is worth it for the absolutely spectacular views. Divine!

This is a quick drive, which was necessary for us. It leads to some incredible views overlooking Penobscot Bay and Camden Harbor. We had a very clear day and could easily see Cadillac Mountain in the distance.

We stayed at the park for two days which allowed us to go up a few times at different times of the day. Each time it was a little different. Clear as a bell then when clouds were covering some of the islands.

After an easy drive up Mt. Battie, we were treated to one of the most awesome views of Camden and the harbor below. Saw many people hiking to the top. There were also other trails in the state park plus campsites for staying overnight.

This was our first time up to Mount Battie. The stone tower was under renovation so we were unable to go in it however the surrounding area has plenty of places for viewing and photo shots of Camden from above.

Can we hike up the toll road in the winter, or is it off limits to pedestrians? Also, are there sledding hills in the park? We're planning on being in the area around Christmas and would like to enjoy the park if possible, with young children.

Camden Hills is open year round except if roads are bad. As far as I know, hiking in any time is permitted.
