If you love to browse, this is the place. On a recent trip to Maine I visited three of their stores, and bought many different things in each. Can't wait till the next trip there!

While in Biddeford - we went shopping - ok disappointed no material this time. But wonderful selections of prom dresses - yes prom dresses - unfortunate for me - my daughter did not find the size she needed - but then she found the boots she been wanting for $36.00 instead of over $80.00, socks she usually buys at marshalls... I didn't expect much when my Family stopped at mardens. We were happily surprised. While its not fancy and looks like is name would indicate a surplus and salvage store. There are a lot of good deals on items and you never know what you're going to find. Worth stopping into if you're in the area and want to kill... More

If you've never been to one, this is a "salvage and surplus" store. I've saved an enormous amount of money shopping here. Always fun because its always changing.

It was ok. Bought a couple of things, and maybe we caught it on a bad day, maybe our expectations were too high. Nonetheless, we thought it was just ok, not spectacular. I would not add it to my vacation "must see" list.

You can find everything there and cheap. Nice stock rotation. You've got to go often. The prices are well balanced for what you get. Dont expect a classy store ! It's a bargain store with the looks that comes with it. It definitly a must !

Stopped in the Ellsworth store, en route home from Bar Harbor, and I'm very glad I did! I could have spent a week in the store, but I was focused on fabric. Granted, there are NO fabric stores on the island where I live, so I was like a kid in a candy shop. (Yes, we can now buy material... More
