Come ride the rails and enjoy the sights and sounds of a a by-gone era. The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad offers weekend round trip excursions and several special event trains. Our season runs from Memorial Day weekend through late October. Our primary venue is City Point Station conveniently located just a few miles off Route 1 in Belfast, Maine. However look for a few special events out of Unity, Maine too. One event being our shuttle service to the Common Ground Country Fair in September. Please see our website for our full listing of events, schedules, and fares.

I have been riding the B&ML every summer since the early 1980s when the road was still a full service short line railroad then owned by the city. It's 33 mile grade opened in the 1870 and while the first three miles from the Belfast...More

What a cool historic experience! The station and the train are a sure trip back in time. Much of the path of the rail is nature untouched. The train ride offers an educational guide and local perspective of the railway. My son and I took...More

Took the train to fair. Staff was great but my son described the cars as looking as something from eastern Europe during the cold war. They were actually Swedish! Didn't care it was raining and they didn't leak and great way to get the Common...More

Your son was exactly right! Those cars were brought from Sweden in the early 90s to support a steam locomotive. We no longer have the steam locomotive but retained some of the cars. They were all built in the 1950s and 60s. Thank you for...More

I wish we could influence the autumn colors for our riders! The foliage is really nice when you hit at peak. I suggest keeping an eye on the State of Maine's leaf condition report and plan your trip accordingly so that you may enjoy peak...More

Saw lots of landscape and even an eagle on the tracks! Great way to spend a few hours. Great for kids, open bench like seating. Drinks available for purchase.

This historic rail line has been open almost 150 years. The route I was on today was 7 miles long (14 miles round trip) and afforded some of the most spectacular views of Maine's natural beauty. The attraction is run by an all-volunteer staff who...More

We thoroughly enjoyed the 1 hour train ride. Saw 3 deer and a Osprey nest. Rode in the enclosed car on the first half and then the open car on the return. I recommend the open car for viewing the scenery. Reasonable prices.
