Wow, the theater's Art Deco facade (especially the elephant on top of it) isn't something you see every day. It has a fascinating history and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The elephant's name is Hawthorne, by the way. The last time I saw a life-size elephant statue like him was on top of a car wash in Seattle.

We were on vacation the week prior to Labor Day Weekend and we decided to take in a movie. This place was way better than expected! Real butter for popcorn, soda fountain, tons of non-standard candy options, and beer! The seats were comfy, the staff helpful, and the place charming and clean. We’ll be back next year.

My family enjoyed “Hobbs and Shaw” at the wonderful Colonial Theater in Belfast Maine. The theater combines the attributes of a historical gem with plenty of character with modern technology to make movie-going extremely enjoyable. From the plentiful concessions to the great feel of the theater to the great screen and Dolby enhanced sound, the Colonial Theater made our Sunday afternoon screening a really memorable event. We’re in the Belfast area for another week and hope to get the chance to come back.

They discriminate and segregate based on personal medial decisions. They should feel ashamed for ostracizing members of the public.

This is a nice place to go to see a current film. Some of the seats (near the radiators) can get uncomfortable, due to the heat, but most seats are fine. The theatre with the balcony is cool.
Check out the historical boards downstairs—they are interesting for film and local history buffs!
The popcorn is pretty good, too.
One of the ticket sellers can be grumpy, but just ignore her!

We just love going to this theater. Especially love partaking of the wine & beer selections from concessions while enjoying films. These folks are so generous to Belfast hosting many local fundraising events. We go every week! 5 stars for the Colonial!

Great theater. Love it here. I've been coming since I was a kid. Awesome prices. Art Deco feel. Wish they brought back the sodas that aren't in a can. Friendly people. A must do in Belfast!

I love this theater. It's a fun place. I LOVE the building and I love sitting in the balcony. The ONLY thing that I would change is how slow the process is to buy your tickets and to buy refreshments. if there is a line of people...ugh. But, the the place!

Small, cute and sweet, this cinema has the perfect film experience and so much more. Offers beers, the usual fair, and the staff are always lovely.

What an amazing date nite here on a recent Sat nite . The theater is old school in every way and yet credit cards are accepted. Our film was shown downstairs in what the call Dreamland. We smiled every step of the way . We might not ever go back to a multiplex type theater again . Go catch a flick here
