Awarded Yankee Magazine's "Best Island Tour," we are the Bar Harbor area's favorite boat cruise and a family owned business now in our 22nd year. Operating out of Bass Harbor to the islands of Blue Hill Bay, we offer exclusive access to what many consider one of the most beautiful parts of the Maine coast, as well as its prettiest harbor. Being off the beaten path, our formula for success is offering the highest quality experience at some of the lowest rates on Mount Desert Island. Try out our 11:00-2:30 Lunch Cruise to Frenchboro; established in 1820 and one of the last year round island fishing communities in Maine, Frenchboro is a place that many people find hard to believe still exists in our busy, high-tech world. Or, join us for the 3:00-5:00 Nature Cruise, where you'll see seals, bald eagles, and even haul a lobster trap or two. We cherish your business and our many return customers, and you'll find that it shows from start to finish.

Because this is a local owned and operated business you get insights into the area you won't get just driving along the coast. During our nature cruise we saw seals, eagles, and cormorants. We took the afternoon cruise and a lobster trap was pulled up. We learned how it is determined which to keep and which to put back in... More

The captain was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spent appropriate amounts of time explaining history, finding wildlife and talking about lobster fishing. He was also very passionate about conservation. Would highly recommend the Cruise to anyone that wants to avoid the crowds and appreciates local knowledge.

We found this nature cruise by coincidence and had a fantastic time. The boat is much smaller than those leaving from Bar Harboor ( approx. 30 persons), and Eli Gott, the captain, was very knowledgeable about the area, animals and history of MDI. We not lonely saw various animals, but Eli also hauled in a lobster trap and explained everything... More

This was a fantastic tour! The guide, Eli, has a life-long knowledge about the area, the community, and lobster fishing, which is clearly a passion. He explained the history of the area, back to the first Europeans. He gave us a sense of the various island communities and the Bass Harbor community. He informed us about various sea birds (e.g.,... Wow, our lunch cruise with Eli and Jill was amazing! Eli is a wealth of knowledge, and he went out of his way to give us every opportunity to see wildlife activity in the area. The beauty everywhere was stunning, and we all enjoyed lunch on Frenchboro Island. Our return trip ran into a little weather, but Eli and Jill... More

My family and I loved this trip. Captain Eli provided so much information about Maine, the islands and lobsters. It was fantastic. We saw lots of wildlife including bald eagles, porpoises and seals. Captain Eli did a great job making sure each side of the boat could see everything. We did the lunch cruise to Frenchboro Island, had a wonderful... More

The Island Cruise on the RL Gott was one of the real highlights on our week on Mount Desert Island i.e. Acadia National Park. We took the Lunch Cruise where you place your lunch order before boarding, cruise out to Frenchboro and eat in a setting that makes you feel like you're in a Rockwell painting. Very charming. But that's... More

I don't give out 5 star reviews often, well Island Cruises deserves every point on all 5!! I can't remember the captain's name, but he was incredibly knowledgable, well spoken, easy to hear, skilled behind the wheel and an all around pleasure to experience. We had the fortune of traveling on a gorgeous day, we saw plenty of wildlife including... More
