Underwhelming. It’s just a small, old (completed in 1876) lighthouse, more recently added to the national Register of Historic Places, at the end of a short stroll from the (free) car park which fills up fast. You’ll probably spend more time waiting in the car...More

Even in the rain, this famous light house was so beautiful. Be ready for a long steep stair case to get the famous picture. The parking lot is tiny, maybe 20-30 spots. I couldn’t believe how many people were there on a cold rainy October...More

We stayed at the Bass Harbor Campground and walked down from there, which was good, since the parking area is tiny and there is no space for an RV. You can't go into the lighthouse due to members of the coast guard living there, but...More

There wasn't anything outstanding about it. Looked like all other average light houses around Maine. There are some cooler lighthouses with history and more interaction than this spot. It's a tourist trap come sun-down. There was only space for 20 or so cars. People will...More

This lighthouse is one of the driving factors as to why we came to Maine. I saw a picture of it a few years ago and wanted to see it in person. The parking lot is small. Be prepared to wait a bit for a...More

It’s a bit of a scramble over the rocks to get the best shots but well worth it. We went back a second time and were rewarded with wonderful blue skies

The lighthouse is a short walk down from the parking lot. The lot is tiny and a total jam up. And this is mid-October. Other than that it’s great and cool to see and they have the original bell sitting there. That’s cool.

The lighthouse is beautiful but you must climb way out on the rocks for a great photo. Parking is very limited too. There are some steps down to the rocks but easily managed. Stop at the little roadside stand for homemade jams and baked goods....More

Very impressive light house. Very limited parking though. In Oct we waited 30 minutes for someone to leave to get their space. But worth it. View from the left is down a trail, then down some stairs. View from the right is an easy walk....More

After visiting we now know why it’s such an iconic place to see and shoot as a photographer. My friends and I were determined to get a shot of the lighthouse similar to what we have seen in print and on the internet. We had...More

I wasn't there at sunrise. We were there in the middle of a partly/mostly cloudy day. Pics were gorgeous though. It would be hard to bring out profesional gear. We snapped great pics on phones.
