Let's go lobstering on a real 30' Maine Lobster Boat! Watch while licensed Captain and Registered Maine Guide Jay McGowen hauls traps and see firsthand what we catch. We'll talk about the history of lobstering while the traps are baited and reset. Learn how lobsters live, grow, and eat. On the way we will watch for seals, porpoises and a variety of sea birds. Private or semi-private charters.

The lobster tour was educational and fun and would be appropriate for all ages. This was my second time to Maine and this was a great way to get a much better picture of how the lobster industry works both locally and globally. We got to pull up traps and see how they work. Thanks for the great tour Captain... More

We had the privilege of taking this lobster tour with Capt. Jay. He had myself, my husband and my kids (ages 11, 9 & 6), engaged from the moment we stepped on the boat. We learned all about the Lobster industry in Maine, history of Harpswell and its famous Cribstone bridge. We hauled traps and learned everything there is to... More

I have been going to the great state of Maine almost every year since I was an infant (my great uncle was an engineer that helped to build the old Carlton Bridge on coastal RTE 1 right by the Bath Iron Works....many, many years ago), and when I turned about 5 years-old (1979ish) I was introduced to the Maine lobster...Homarus... We booked the Lobster Tour a few days prior over the phone...and so glad we did! It was WELL WORTH the time and expense. I would do it again in a heartbeat! I believe he offers other tours, but we wanted to learn about Maine lobstering so this review is of that tour. There were 5 of us, so it... More

I did this tour with 5 other business associates. Capt Jay grew up in the area so has a great knowledge of local history, maritime practices in the area, site seeing and food recommendations. He was a merchant marine captain for over 30 years so also has great nautical knowledge and a great sense of humor. You won't regret spending... More

My 12 year old son and I went out with Captain Jay today! I was looking for a lobster boat tour to help us learn about the food I love to eat. We had a wonderful tour learning about the different types of lobsters, when they are legal to take, as well as 100 more facts about everything you would... More

This was the first excursion we did in Maine and it was well worth it! Captain Jay was soo friendly and funny! He showed us all around the bay as well as the ins and outs of catching lobster. If you have the time this is a must do!

If you visit Maine to get away from crowds and commercialism, this lobster boat tour is what you are looking for. As an added bonus, Bailey Island is a very scenic location. The skipper, Capt Jay, is professional, humorous and very knowledgeable (and could have played Quint in Jaws!). He is the real deal and gives you a "hands on"... More

My family has been going to Maine for years on vacation and this trip was something I wish we would have found a long time ago. With my wife and my son and our grandson all waiting at the dock @ Cook’s (very easy to find and access) we met Captain Jay and boarded the lobster boat. From the moment... More

Learn about lobsters and lobstering from the water. Captain Jay mixes educational information about the life of lobsters, how lobstering works and the lobstering industry with great stories from his life in lobstering. All of this from an actual lobster boat. Definitely worth a visit!
