Well it was free. It just had little info there but was helpful with suggestions of other parks and preserves.

The most important thing to me on a long road trip is knowing where there will be easy, quick, clean spots for bathroom breaks. This new building is wonderful - right off of 10, super clean, and has other fun things for kids to do while everyone is going to the bathroom. Lots of cute little photo ops abound - a boat, a dolphin, a zydeco band, etc. The small gift shop proved to be the biggest hit. My kids were still playing with their alligator hand puppets two weeks later.

There are lots of beautiful photos depicting the magic of the Creole Nature Trail as well as a small gift shop to take home a little piece of the Trail. They even have a section set up where you can try your musical skills playing zydeco music. Trust me, playing a fiddle is not as easy as you would think, I have the utmost respect for those fiddle players! This is an adventure the whole family can enjoy. Make the stop here and then continue on to the actual Creole Nature Trail!

This little nature center is on the smaller side, but well worth a visit! The woman and gentleman behind the counter were friendly and had tons of great information for those looking to do the Creole Nature Trail. Even if you're not planning on doing the trail, this is still a great stop for something fun to do with the kids. There are interactive displays which tell the history of the area and explain the nature and habitats of the area as well. Displays on duck hunting, crabbing, boudin and creole/cajun cooking and music are well presented, interactive and fun! It's like a mini children's museum. A small gift shop and super clean bathrooms round out the appeal of this stop. They have a wealth of information for all the area attractions as well as the nature trail. Later that day, we took one of the swamp walks and saw a baby alligator (we were hoping to see a bigger one, but we will take a little one too!). The following day, we followed the woman's advice and drove back to Houston along the Gulf (stopping at Holly Beach) instead of I10, and it was definitely a much nicer ride! We highly recommend this stop!
