First, make sure you have a US government ID or state driver license to get thru the gate. The museum is just inside the north gate. The inside area is small but packed with neat paintings, photos and memorabilia. Interesting items from the Presidential stop during 911 and room dedicated to the Secret Squirrel bombing raid were my favorite. The... More

The staff at the museum are doing a good job even though they have a very small budget. The USAF needs to raise the priority level on this museum! Billeting is across the street so you could picnic at the pavilion if desired. If you like static display aircraft, this has a good selection.

A small building houses many uniforms, artifacts, paintings, illustrations, and a couple of genuine Norden bombsights. There is a cockpit from an F-111, and a few other items about the building teach the history of USAF global airpower. The aircraft lined up outside are in pretty good shape, considering they are exposed to the Louisiana elements year 'round. About a... More

1. Bottom Line Up Front. As a retired Marine Corps Infantry Officer and history enthusiast, I have had the privilege of visiting quite a few museums of this type all across the United States so my expectations are typically very high; I was not disappointed. I wold readily visit this museum again. 2. Details of my visit. I visited the... More

A small but very well put together military museum. The aircraft outside tell a story covering 60 years of military air power. The items they have on display inside cover almost a hundred years. The information that you get from both of these displays is more than you can find on a history book. Visit if you are in the... More

Such a great museum! We enjoyed admiring all the planes outside as well as the exhibits inside. There are two videos that play inside and a gift shop.

Call ahead if your not a US citizen. Our visiting foreign friends could not get in. Nice static displays. We liked the spread out layout. Friends were understanding that accessing a active airbase may be issue.

This Museum is located on Barksdale AFB property and will require entrance through a Base Gate / AF Security Force Checkpoint. My guess is that you'll have some form of delay getting on base if your only presenting a driver's license or Passport...I highly recommend going to the main gate visitors' center and get a temporary base pass first. It... More
