This is a very interesting stop but only a well read person would understand. The people who make statements like "it's just a statue" do not know the story of the Acadian people. This is the last part of a lesson about the Acadians, not...More

While the monument is well done and the story fascinating, the cemetery itself is the real reason to stop. Right next to the church building, in the style of Catholic churches and cemeteries in France, this is unique and will leave you wanting to learn...More

Nicely done history museum. Very worthwhile video of Acadian life. Gift shop was a pleasure to shop in. The short stroll to the monument, gave time for reflection. A heart breaking tale, in the form of a poem.

It's a statue. A nice one. Other than than I don't know what to say about it. If you go to the Evangeline Oak it's close. Located behind the church.

No visit to the area is complete without exploring the story of Evangeline and experiencing her monument. Walk around the church and you will find the monument off the left side of the church.

The statue of Evangeline is set around the back of the St. Martinville de Tours church. The setting for the statue is quite lovely. We found the area to be very serene and a great place to take pictures. The statue was a gift to...More

If you have ever read the poem of "Evangeline" by Longfellow, as I have, you were probably charmed by it, as I was. The faith, courage, and love of this noble Acadian woman is inspiring. When my family and I visited Louisiana to visit a...More
