When touring St. Francisville you must stop in and take a tour of the Oakley Plantation. It is not too far from downtown St. Francisville and well worth your time. You can learn a little about Audubon's time in St. Francisville.

This home has it's reputation on that John Audubon had a extended stay here and did some painting of the local birds. It is a lovely old home with period furniture.

Audubon painted many of his birds while here. The visitor's center has a collection of many that he did while a tutor at the plantation.

We have been here so many times and we always enjoy it. Love the history and that John James Audubon once lived here. A must see if you are in the area.

This historic site is focused on the time Audubon stayed at the plantation. It is very informative with a different focus than most plantation tours. Has many nice Audubon prints on display

Came here the first time with my mom in 2012 and then again with my hubby in 2016. Each time was different and wonderful. You learn so much history from the fantastic guides and also get as much time as you like to wander the grounds. This time there were actually a civil war reenactment going on and we were... More

This was an interesting historical location with some stories pertaining to Audubon, the artist. The location has been kept, as much as possible, as it would have been when he was there for 3 months. It is an educational place to visit.

The museum and plantation tour has alot to offer. There are reenactment events throughout the year, and on occasion children can participate in weaving and taste testing from the kitchen. The story of the home is well communicated and the artifacts are well preserved. Peaceful property too.

The home is restored to 1821 furnishings with many original artifacts. The 20-minute guided tour outlines the history of the home and the area with colorful anecdotes. A very pleasant stop for Saint Francisville visitors.
