I was TRULY impressed with the image of this military museum. I have been in 18 different states and never seen one with so much wealth of information like this one. I am so happy TripAdvisor advised me come to this museum since I am a lover of history.

This disorganized museum is like many veteran run military museums in other small towns. The collection varies widely and has no sort of cohesiveness. Elderly veterans run this place. If you try and pay with a credit card, they will not know how to work the swipe machine, so they will just ask for whatever change you have instead. The tour was at times rambling, but it was fun to see how inappropriate he could get with the kids. It reached its height of inappropriateness when he showed the young kids a picture of a Vietnamese soldier with his head blown off. That social faux pas was worth a laugh. The larger half of the museum is currently under renovation. You can peer through the windows and still see some of the large military vehicles though. This is probably the best attraction in Houma, but is not a must see by any measure.

On our way from LaFayette to New Orleans, we spot this museum on the map and decided to visit it. We basically had one of our best time of our Louisiana stay !!
The museum is awesome, run by true passionate people who welcomed us warmly.
We enjoyed our tour, guided by Mr. Matherne, a Korea vet., then enjoyed the discussion with the entire "crew" and Mr. Christ, who, as a former B-29 pilot, can tell a lot of things about Korea as well, but also on WWII German U-Boats !!! I couldn't resist and I bought his book, which I recommend to anyone having even a slight interest in U-Boats !
Thanks again for your hospitality !!! That was highly appreciated !!

The Regional Military Museum exemplifies the Military Pride and Traditions of this area of Louisiana. From the engraved bricks of regional veterans to the personal pride of the volunteer dolcents, who lived the military histroy, military service is honored.
There is a small static exhibit of military equipment but the personal history is in the personable tours. Outstanding! This is a great regional tribute to the 1% of Americans that often made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom.
I've been visiting in Houma for the past six years and the Military Museum continues to improve each year. Take the guided tour.

I have been to this museum a few times (even before they added the expansion) my favorite tour was given to me by Mr. Christ. He is (in my opinion the best tour guide I have ever had & I have been to a lot of Military Museums, include the D-Day Museum in New Orleans).

Honor the men and women who have served our country by visiting this museum. There's a wealth of knowledge stored in these buildings and I can't wait to visit when the addition is complete as some items were in storage waiting to be displayed.
We felt privileged to tour with men that served in the military for various missions. We spent 2-1/2 hours and it didn't feel long at all. In fact, we were rushing through some exhibits because closing time was approaching.

Very impressive for a small town museum. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting the Houma/Thibodaux area.

Excellent visit showing involvement of local hero’s in defence and freedom of democracy through the history of USA both nationally and internationally.
Wonderful stories by the life member volunteers who built and run this well stocked, organised and catalogued museum: GO VISIT!
Although staying in New Orleans we went to Houma and found friendly‘hometown’ locals who live in the delta.
