    Bourbon Tasting experience
Are you curious about bourbon? The tasting was an enjoyable experience to learn a bit about the process of making different bourbons and then being able to sample multiple varieties. We really enjoyed the tasting experience and wish that we had more time so that we could have toured the actual distillery.

This tour was very interesting since this is one of the oldest bourbon makers, so you get to see the original buildings and how they still use wooden vats. I felt the group was too big, but it all worked out. It is a walking tour and they do have a golf cart to help those who cannot walk. Of course , the tasting was fun and the gift shop well stocked. Enjoy.

Great tour in a historic distillery on beautiful grounds.
So many good things to say about this place. Beautiful grounds, very nice new gift shop and tasting room. Our tour guide was very fun and also very informative. But the highlight of the experience is definitely the tour, and particularly the stills. Six beautiful copper stills in an old distillery. You get to see several different stages of the distilling process, as well as some of the old warehouses where they still store some of the casks. And then the free tasting with three bourbons, one mini cocktail and a bourbon ball chocolate. What's not to love?

    Great Tour & Tasting
Had a great time. Our guide Jeremy was very informative and fun and we had great weather for the tour. The tastings at the end are always nice. This was the only one I’ve been on that gave me chocolate. The drive out to the distillery was past thoroughbred farms and made for a beautiful drive and the distillery is a beautiful area.

Beautiful grounds with interesting buildings and history. The gift shop and tasting room are spacious, clean and pleasant. Clean bathrooms. Welcoming friendly staff. Our tour guide Chloe was wonderful. Her pride was evident and her enthusiasm was fun!

Best distillery on KY Bourbon Trail
Unfortunately, we couldn't get a tour, but we did get to do a tasting. Kathy, our tasting host, was knowledgeable and entertaining. The bourbons we sampled were pretty good. We went across the street for some cocktails, and we enjoyed them. Most likely the best distillery on the Bourbon Trail.

    Informational and concise.
Beautiful place! Good information was given too. It was a pretty steep hill going down, but I think they can help people with that. The history was fascinating. There was about 15-20 people in the group. The tour guide spoke loudly and inside he/she had microphones. The tasting was good as well. There was no time for chit chat or people joking around. The tour must go on. Pay attention.

    A wonderfully relaxing experience
Because of the many days of rain in TN during our roadtrip, we had to cancel our tour, but did enjoy the cocktail bar and gift shop. The drive to the distillery is gorgeous. The manicured fields and horses was breathtaking . The gift shop offers a variety of bourbons, accessories, food stuffs, and shirts. The fireplace is the perfect place to snap a picture with friends. The cocktail lounge across the street was sophisticated and serene. We ordered and enjoyed the porch swing and the double-oaked old fashioned in rocking chairs. on the lawn.

Great tour... great bourbon... need better apparel
Great history on grounds and good tour. Good job 👍🏻 Beth (guide). Great tasting and love the Double Oaked. Would have loved if the gift shop had better apparel, but got some good gifts.

The tour guide was great, and it was cool to see how they do it compared to other distilleries. I didn’t enjoy the tasting as much as I have other tasting but over all it was a good tour.

If you want to take a tour, be sure to book as far in advance as you can. The grounds are beautiful. It is easy to get to from Frankfort or Lexington, KY.

Woodford Reserve is a much smaller, but very classy distillery. We started our visit with a drink on the back deck of the Visitor Center. The check-in for the tours is across the street from the Visitor Center/Gift Shop/Bar. It's a very short walk, but they also provide a shuttle bus which comes around every couple of minutes. Our tour guide Michael did a very nice job providing history of the distillery, and insight into the bourbon making process. As usual, the tour ended with a very nice taste testing of Woodford Reserve Whiskey.

Woodford is on the premium end of the Bourbon industry and a tour of their facility reflects that in the best way. From the drive through beautiful horse country to the rails for rolling the barrels everything about this tour shows a desire to provide the best product and experience for the Bourbon drinker. The fermentation barrels and pot stills were the best we saw all week and the stone buildings and rails show a reverence for the history of the industry.
I also appreciated our guides detailed answers to questions like ‘why 7 days’.
Make sure you try the Double Oaked while you are there.

As we drove away, on our way back to I64 for our cross-country trek, my hubby declared “that was a very civilized rest stop…” Needless to say I say more?

I like Woodford Reserve. The tasting was led by Cane and he did a superior job explaining the differences in the various bourbons. The tastings were paired with food and it brought out subtle differences in the tastes.

Visited Woodford Reserve with one of my groups. From the moment one steps into the Gatehouse, you'll know this is a class act. The grounds are beautiful and welcoming. WR is very good with confirmations & communications and if needed, changing the numbers attending. The receipt, website and other communications say the tour is 70 minutes and that is pretty on target. I'd allow at least an hour and a half or 2 hours for a visit.
Very professional and very businesslike when you enter to check-in. This process is quick, with them asking for your driver's license, they get you check in very quickly. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and insightful ( I asked a couple of questions and she was able to respond with accuracy). The buildings are some of the oldest in the U.S. and with a process that stands the test of time. For those who cannot climb the steps, .there is an elevator to take you to the next floor. The barrel room is amazing! Be sure to look to see if the red barrel face is still there and ask what it represents.
The Flights are done while sitting at tables while your guide explains each of the bourbons and their content. This is a distillery with a long enduring history and one you'll want to visit.

I decided to take A little excursion and knock off another OG Bourbon Trail Distillery. So I went to Woodford. First let me say it’s breathtaking and beautiful there. I loved being in the middle of Horse Country! Our guide Trevor/Travis forgot his name but Red head bearded guy! He was excellent and very informative and fun to be around. I loved seeing the gravity rails for moving the bourbon in action. The tasting experience was very enjoyable too, especially anytime I get chocolate with it! The overall experience was enjoyable I will return to do the food pairing tasting. I highly recommend this to any bourbon lover or horse lover! It’s worth the $32 fee for sure!!

We arrived 45 minutes early for our 3:00 pm Path to Flavor tour. So, we parked at the tasting room/shop and looked around for a bit, before walking to the tour building, which is across the road. We checked in and waited. While there is a very nice waiting area in the tour building, that is all that is there...no information, nothing really to look at while you wait. The tour left promptly at 3:00 with Tony as our tour guide. We boarded a limousine bus and were taken to the facility. Loved going inside of 3 areas. Great information from Tony about the history of the site and the WR distilling process. Easy to understand him as he used a microphone. Time allowed to walk around the designated areas, take pictures, ask questions. Only got to look quickly in through a screen door at the bottling room - it would have been nice to have a better view of that process. Tour was about 45 minutes with some stairs. We were then bussed back to the tasting room, where we had 5 tastings, plus a bourbon ball. Overall, a nice tour. And, the horse farms surrounding the facility are nice to see, too.
