Great zoo
Oct 2021 • Couples
It was so nice, we went twice. There is a large variety of animals and it’s very spread out. You definitely want to have comfortable shoes on

Nice Zoo
Sep 2021
My wife and I decided to visit during our stay in Louisville since we figured it would be a safe outdoor activity during this pandemic. We really enjoyed ourselves during our time here. It is a big zoo with a variety of animals. I could see us coming back if we were in the area once the pandemic gets better so we can experience the different activities that were closed at the zoo.

Bring back the train.
May 2021
In my youth I loved the Louisville Zoo, mostly for the train ride. My son for the first 3 years of his life also loved the train ride more than I can express. His grandmother would take him like she used to take me and had the time of his life. His little sister will never know the joy of the train ride because they've decided it's not worth fixing. I will never vote again for the Louisville Zoo as best Zoo, until they have a train, but it needs to be soon. Kids don't stay kids for long.

Fun experience
Aug 2021 • Couples
This is a fun zoo to walk through. Lots of different animals to see and you never know what you will come across. They have different trainings for people to see occasionally as well as a show at the seal habitat. It is an easy walk through the zoo.

Beautiful zoo
Jul 2021
Convenient location with lots of parking. We enjoyed the zoo very much. It’s big enough to spend a half a day or more walking the grounds and observing animals and small enough to see it all. Exhibits are beautiful and our favorites include the sloths, elephants, seal and gorilla “jungle”.

Ropes course and splash pad
Jul 2021
The zoo itself is okay but was nice that it had a ropes course and splash pad. We felt the admission price was pretty steep and of course you have to pay for parking. The usual zoo animals ,nothing that really "wowed" us.

Very cool zoo to visit while in Louisville KY
Jul 2021 • Couples
This was my first time going to a zoo and I figured my first time traveling to Louisville would be perfect. All the workers were very friendly and this zoo did not fail to amaze me. Overall me and my family had an amazing time.

Need so.e wild time, visit the zoo.
Jun 2021 • Family
Nice outdoor walking path, gets a little confusing with path off shoots but in general a big circle.

The indoor buildings very hot to the point of making one neautious.

Plenty of food and drink booths.

No maps so we kept getting lost.

Sad and stressed animals
Jun 2021 • Family
The zoo houses all the animals you would expect to see when visiting a zoo. My main issue was the horrible condition some of the animals were being kept in. The enclosures are clean and upon first glance they look fine. However some of the animals were showing clear signs of stress (gorilla pacing back and forth and shaking a door for example) and most barely looked like they had a reason to live. Enclosures are way smaller than they should be, especially for the bigger animals like elephants and rhinos. Cold weather animals like polar bears and snow leopards were in open enclosures in 90+ degree weather with very little shade. You'd have to imagine that's torture for animals that naturally live on ice and spend their days plunging into freezing waters. Some ice was dumped on the ground in one of the polar bear enclosures, next to some raw meat which i assume was his meal.... the polar bear just sat upright in a corner looking at the wall and didn't go near the ice or food.
Visiting this zoo just made me sad. I haven't gone to a zoo in years and only went to show my son a zoo for the first time. I can honestly say this zoo has changed my perception of keeping animals in captivity... it really just shouldn't be done in most circumstances.

Exhibits are very spaced apart
Jun 2021
I enjoy all zoo's big & small. We visited on 6/10. There were a lot of empty exhibits. I googled walking distance to plan ahead. Every review & website say 1 mile. That is actually a drastically reduced path for walkers. If you are visiting the zoo as a tourist it is 3-4 miles. This zoo is very spaced out . Plan accordingly.
