Old Louisville has wonderful, diverse architecture. One of the largest historical home districts in the USA. St James court is amazing, like stepping back in time (sans the autos). Wander the whole area- sure, some of the homes haven't experience the fabulous renaisance as others, but after all, it is a neighborhood. Stop at local pubs and restaurants (Amici's on... More

Like my title, these streets take one backward in time. I loved the architecture, the shapes, textures and proximity of these homes to one another. I could picture life in the late 1800's by driving through here in mid march. The trees arch the roadway and were in blooms of white, pink, and other glorious colors. Stopped in to Monnik... More

If you just need to relax a bit while touring Louisville, this is just a beautiful way to do it. Drive to the intersection of St. James Court and Magnolia Avenue and just drive through the blocks of magnificent old homes. It really looks like something out of a movie set. All are beautifully maintained. This is well worth your... More

Strolling up and down "Saint James Court" and "Belgravia Court" in Old Louisville is always a refreshing treat for those interested in Victorian Architecture. They "boast" of having the largest collection of Victorian Homes in the country (who knows). Each home and garden is unique and fronts a center "court" with fountain. You might be lucky enough to be in... More

In this neighborhood you really feel the history. It is great to walk or driver around. The architecture is beautiful and preserved.

Wow--I had no idea this neighborhood even existed....one of the most beautifully maintained, and incredibly large architectural showplaces I've ever seen--and as a rabid architecture/history fan, that's saying something. Gorgeous blend of nearly 1,300 (!!!) homes (and churches) from around 1885-1910. Incredible! Louisville needs to do more to promote this national treasure.

We had asked some people in Louisville about Old Louisville and they essentially told us "not to go, that its not a great area and nothing to see". We had some time, and took a drive there anyway the next day. The area was not bad, the houses on a few streets were beautiful, and it is around their Central... More

We spent some time walking all around the St. James area. Absolutely beautiful old homes and yards. A pleasant and interesting area to spend some time just observing. Parking could be a problem, but there usually spots available adjacent to the area.
