The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year.

The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages.

The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie.

With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

i was in Louisville where there is really nothing to do and i have decided to drive 1,5 hours to visit Lexington and its Kentucky horse park. It's a nice green area with many horses and with a nice museum regarding the horses history. It's not bad but nothing more ... the problem is that there are not many other... More

The is a great place for families. The grounds are expansive and there is plenty to see and do whether you are a real horse person or not. It was not crowded at all the two times I've been there. The stands did fill up for the horse show but it was not uncomfortable. I would make sure to take... More

Family had a great time here. Park was not crowded so it made our visit much more relaxing. We paid extra for the horse back ride and it was well worth it.

The horse park is wonderful for a family outing any day. They have tons to see and do for kids like pony rides, trail rides. Showing of different breeds of horses and demonstrations on certain breeds at different times of the day. A little overpriced at $18 a ticket but it's for a good cause.

I love the museum, the horse barns where you can really get close to animals & the helpful staff all around. The arena is marvelous, the events are well staged 7 the practice viewing availability is thoughtful around.

Attended The Road to the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park. Wonderful facility. As we were driving in to attend our event, I could see "trail riders" getting ready to go out for a ride. Horses were well taken care of and looked good. Last time I was her, I also went through the museum and the barns. Great place.

I originally visited the horse park in Sept. 2001--a few weeks after 9/11. I had been bugging my husband to come back for the ensuing years. (He's originally from Lexington.) We came back 15 years later, and it is still a great place. The meet and greet with the draft horses was the best experience, and I learned a lot... More

I have been to the horse park 4 times, and each time it is great. I love seeing all of the different breeds, and there is always something educational to check out. I hope to come back again one day! 😊

Took our family here on Easter 2016 and had the entire park ourselves (and maybe just 200 other people). Two of us took a 30-minute horseback ride while our youngest had s pony ride. We saw all the exhibits and demonstrations, walked the lovely grounds m, and purchased a few items in the gift shop. We spent 4 hours there,... More
