About
Join us at our Main Street location. We are the only location in Kentucky with a train running directly down the street. We are a short drive off I-71, exit 22. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization. See the steam engine, 1929 dining car, caboose, and museum exhibits. Our name changed slightly last fall as we added "& Learning Center" to our name. This change accurately reflects our enhanced service to the community. Further enhancements are in progress with the rehab of our 1963 caboose to a period-correct interior and the addition of the exterior Educational Park on the grounds in front of the 1929 L&N Dining Car.

Worth a stop for a little piece of history. No admission cost but donations appreciated. Volunteer offered a nice explanation of the depot and a few fun facts.

We went out for a tour of the dinner car they have on site they said that is expecting a remodel here shortly. It's a two-level building with a lot of railroad stuff in the building. Worth a visit. Its got parking and if I remember correctly this is free to visit. Well worth the visit. The Second level and a back room of the main level are model trains tracks which some of the people in our group really liked.

This museum is a must do when in the area. Ken was fantastic as he told us about the building and some of its history. We enjoyed the downstairs model set ups.
Upstairs there are actual artifacts donated by people either with connections to the railroad or family wanting to share with others.
The display of a locomotive, dining car, and caboose was so fun to tour.

It's a small little museum but it has many interesting items. For a train buff like me it's a treasure. Plus the folks there were very friendly and welcoming and also very knowledgeable.

Nice Railroad Museum but check website as they are not open but a few days a week. The gentleman that give us the tour had a lot of info from the early days of La Grange.

First time to the museum. While small was very nice. Don't miss the downstairs. Coming soon kid friendly trains!! The dinner was delicious and the atmosphere such fun. It was a very good value and went to support the museum (It's a non-profit)! They plan to have monthly dinners. Will definitely return.

This museum is only open on weekends so we didn't think we'd get to see it but as luck would have it we were still in La Grange on Saturday and got a great tour. There are several trains outside. One is set up like an old dining car complete with all the period details. People can rent the train for lunches, parties or meetings. There's also a train done up like Thomas the Tank Engine. Inside are lots of artifacts from the Louisville & Nashville line. The volunteer who answered questions was great. Very pleasant but not forcing himself into your tour as some do! Downstairs are multiple train displays that are just amazing. We really enjoyed this stop on our visit to La Grange.

Located in the L&N Train Depot that was built in 1914 in LaGrange KY.The museum is open on the weekends. Tours are given by the Historical Members.

The museum is a work in progress and contains model trains, railroad artifacts and a library full of memories and facts all about trains. Outside there are engines and cars you can visit. They also have a 1929 Dinner Car that is available to rent for Birthdays, Meetings, and other events.

Richard, We have come a long way at the museum. Instead of just weekends, we are now open 5 days EVERY week and we may be open as much as 6 days every week as early as September. Thank you for your support of this museum as this is entirely run by volunteers for the benefit of the community. Please visit again and consider being a regular part of the museum. by becoming a monthly volunteer. Volunteering is so easy for and individual (or as a couple) either 3 or 4 hours just once each month. We hope to see you back with us soon....
