Wow! A long drive from Jinja Uganda was definitely worth it. We took a 3 pm trek at Ziwa. A short ride into the bush and we exited our vehicle. We walked around a tree with our guide and saw a momma and 4 month old rhino! Magical. We then trekked a mile or so and encountered 5 more rhinos.... More

We spent two nights here so we could see the rhinos (obviously!) but also to undertake an early morning bird-watching walk in the swampy area with in the park. The rhinos are captivating, and the ability to get very close to these huge animals is a wonderful experience. There were no fences between them and us - this isn't a... More

My husband and I loved our visit at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Our guide was fantastic at getting us close, while still respecting the rhino's personal space. The staff are all very kind and you can tell they care a great deal about wildlife conservation. Each and every person we met seemed fully invested in this program - and damn proud... More

Had a fab time here. The Rhinos are huge! Did not seemed bothered by our presence. Rangers made sure we were safe by guiding us around the Rhino when they kept moving. Lovely to see theses animals are being protected, and lovely to see the young one. Reassuring to know they are breeding.

I went to the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary with my 13-year-old daughter and we had an amazing time. The guides were super knowledgeable, the staff kind and the walking safari was a lifetime memory. After doing a ton of research on going to the best place and feeling like the money would be well spent, nothing could prepare me for the... More

This is an excellent facility. This is no charge for gate entrance. Of course, the guides will appreciate a tip for their knowledgeable discussion and locating the rhino(s). We took a brief walk through the grasslands and found a mom, baby and huge male fast asleep. Guides do not carry rifles, simply walkie talkies. In continuing our walk, we saw... More

Actually, I didn't know what to expect from this place. What I found was something like a small park in which men and wild animals live together in peace, helping to increase the number of endangered rhinos. In fact, we saw two rhinos with young babies! While locals grow cows and many colourful bird species and many antelope species wander... More

This is one of the few places to see rhinos that have not been transported to an artificially created environment in a zoo. The guides here are very knowledgable. You will get fairly close to these huge animals while on foot. As another reviewer mentioned, bring water as you will be walking in the heat. It's a great experience.

I did not know what to expect exactly, but this was an awesome experience. Our guides (Edward and Sharif) cautiously walked with us to rhinos, on the way showing other interesting stuff in the sanctuary: birds, trees, fly traps, rhinos' toilet... :) We saw two rhinos with their babies, and were guided closer and closer, which was very exciting, but...
