First, it's s little more complicated trying to get into Fort Knox than I remember(before 9/11). I made the mistake of listening too closely to my GPS. Rule Number 1: stop at the visitor center first to get a pass. Show ID-but first take a number. They were pleasant but it took about 15 minutes or so to get a... More

Real history resides here and both inside and out! The outside has some great tank/armored vehicle static displays as well as a WWII era barracks and multiple memorials to armored units in the Army's past. Inside you'll be treated to a very high-quality museum. It's not the largest museum around but I can guarantee you'll love what you find there.... More

The purpose of our trip was to show my wife the Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor. With the closing of Fort Knox it has become the George S. Patton Museum. It does not have all the armor it used to as the Army has moved it to Fort Benning. The Tiger tank and the Panzer are gone and so... More

I have visited several times in the past but this is first time in probably 10 years. They took most of the tanks out for some reason. To me they were the highlight of the museum. Its still ok, mainly personal items of General Pattons.

George Patton museum at Ft. Knox Kentucky. It took my wife and I pprox. 2 1/2 hrs. To go through. No charge to visit. Learned a lot about General Patton as well as many other military men and women. It covered things from the civil war to the Gulf war. It was a good way to spend the afternoon. Don... More

General Patton is one of my heroes. I did my Army basic training at Fort Knox in 1971 but never visited the Museum until February, 2017. Please-don't anyone else wait that long. The Museum is changing so it will be accessible without having to enter the base. Please do yourself a favor and visit soon.

This museum was great. I really enjoyed how it was later out and had quotes everywhere. You got to see personal items and got to really get the feel of how General Patton viewed character and leadership! Wish I would've had my grandpa here he would've loved it. One note is that if you go now they have winter hours... More

The Park is dedicated to US armored forces of the European Theater. On 36 cement circles are monument stones, with a center tall stone, surrounded up to 3 smaller stones. The circles are connected by a cement walkway. The stones represent armored divisions, supply &tank battalions & campaigns. I stopped photographing at the 10th circle. Not until seeing an aerial... Free entry with donations. What a great visit just down the road. It has a ton of displays covering the Generals history. The whole family enjoyed it.

In 2017 the old access gate right off Highway 31-W will be reopened and the general public will be able to visit the museum, which will be fenced off from the rest of post. BUT ... This museum is but a shadow of what it used to be. To get anything out of this museum now, you have to be... More
