This was a fantastic small, interactive museum. Kids could dress up and interact in a steamboat or drive a car. The moving train exhibit was inspiring--even for adults. Lots of history. There was an outside area that we did not walk through due to rain. I was initially hesitant when I read reviews as I thought it was too chilren focused, but glad we took risk and went!

Wonderful nuts sized local museum. A little bit of something for everyone, from movie paraphernalia, miniature trains, natural history, history items - and so much more! Plenty of one of a kind items, and different exhibits as well. You'll need about 1.5 hours, and it's handicap accessible. Go and enjoy!

It was a rainy Saturday in Cincinnati, I was looking for a place to take my 2 year old for the afternoon. I thought about the Cincinnati Children's Museum, but knew it would be a packed madhouse. That's when I thought about checking out the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park. It had been several years since I visited, and had read they did a complete renovation. For those not aware of its location, its easy to get to right across the river from downtown Cincinnati in Covington, Ky. Located in Devou Park, you can even take advantage of the outdoor amenities of the park after visiting. The focus of the museum is the evolution of transportation in greater Cincinnati. When I walked through the entrance, my daughter darted off to a little play table with a model train. Even before exploring the museum, I went ahead and upgraded to the family pass knowing more than likely would be back. We toured the rest of museum, which followed the progress of growth and transportation in the area. In each room, they had an interactive table for children to play at. I thought, "what a great concept! Dad can read about the local history while daughter plays right beside him." All museums should be set up this way. The museum is very informative with many interactive exhibits. We pretty much had free roam of the place as there were only a few other visitors there. I wanted to be selfish and not anyone know about our little secret, but thought it best to spread the word so the museum gets the support and patronage it deserves.

The Behringer-Crawford museum
Is an unlikely institution in an unlikely place. More or less, it is the history of transportation in Northern Kentucky, from native canoes through the international airport. Trains, steamboats, and so on. But it is a small museum with a small collection that is quirky and utterly charming. Perfect for kids 5-12.

They also have the single largest collection of art made by Harlan Hubbard, latter day Thoreau, who lived a deliberately simple life in a cove along the river, and painted and wrote prolifically. The museum provides a rare opportunity to learn about this modern hero.

Tucked away in the hills of Covington is the Behringer-Crawford Museum. It is filled with local Kentucky history, e.g., artifacts, paintings, stuffed bear, antique car. Located near Devou Park, the museum offers something for every age. A great get-away during the weekend. I wrote about the museum for aeqai, an international online visual arts journal.

The museum is fun for families and people looking for some local history and color, but we absolutely love going to the 7pm music offerings. Some of the best Jazz, Salsa and Rock and Roll. They usually have food and beverages. $5 is a small investment for a great night out. Bring a lawn chair to ensure comfort and a place to sit.

This small museum is located in a park to the west of downtown Covington in Devou Park. Transportation was the general theme though some exhibits like the two headed cow and the shrunken head didn't exactly fit in. Highlights for us included the model train layout, lots of information about the Ohio river including its river boats and floods, and an interesting film about the development of the suburbs. We're museum wonks and spent a pleasant two hours discovering more about the region. While not under the control of the museum in any way, it would have been nice to have had a view of the river; but I can't count this as a negative.

What a great museum! They have the last streetcar to run in Northern KY & a wonderful model train display with amazing detail. There is a 1959 Buick that you can sit in & watch movies. There are lots of activities for children including several "dress up" areas. The temporary exhibit about Vietnam was very moving. There is a lot of history about Northern KY which we found interesting even though we are not from Northern KY.

The museum is located in Devou Park. Our GPS took us right to it. There is ample parking, just follow the signs.

Planes, trains, rivers, and roads. You get to learn about ALL aspects of transportation that made our region what it is - in one place. Fantastic setting in Devou Park. Take the kids to the park for a picnic and stop by the museum for a couple of hours.
