Berea College is in many ways too good to be true. Slow, Southern pace, top rated educators, gorgeous campus, meticulous groundskeeping, and one of the best engineering and maintenance staff in the business!! Unlike the larger University to the north, where winning basketball games is the highest priority, Berea College invests in superior secondary education and has built a stellar... More

This university has a rich history. With a $1.2 billion endowment, students attend free. They are required to do community projects and many of them are studying to be artisans. The campus is beautiful, nestled in a small town with many shops and artist studios. Even a homemade ice cream and fudge shop. Definitely worth a visit for tranquility, meeting... More

Our daughter graduated from Berea with an excellent education. But we benefited by learning so much about the history of the school. Berea is located in a small college town that is safe, has tons of opportunities, to see and purchase crafts both by students and local craftsmen. Fun and quirky places to eat.

Berea College has a beautiful campus. In the fall the color is outstanding. Loved our tour. Nice southern Hospitality with a bit of a arts lovers flair.

This college was begun by Rev. Fee before the Civil War for both African Americans and white students and both men and women equally from Appalachia. All students work 10 to 15 hours per week and graduate virtually debt-free. Their family income must be below a certain level in order for a student to apply. The college is excellent academically.... More

BC has taught me so much about others, the world, and myself. I have developed connections that will last a lifetime as well as find what i really want to head towards in life. I will graduate as a Technology and Applied Design major :)

We attended a free musical concert that was a wonderful cultural experience representing the area. Beautiful old buildings, too!

Berea, the town, is intertwined with Berea College and it's somewhat difficult to distinguish one from the other. We were quite fortunate to happen upon some students who were most gracious and gave us a wonderful history of the college and their involvement with the community. The campus is simple beautiful including the many buildings which are incorporated into the... More

Our group had arranged a tour of the college with the tourist office at the old train depot. Interesting that this college does not charge tuition. Just room and board. Highly recommend the log cabin craft center and the weaving building behind it. We felt very welcomed at both places.

We were on the way to Lexington and decided to check out where my husbands Grandparents were from. The college area is very pretty. We arrived around 4pm so everything was closed up. If you are in the area it is worth checking out.
