Located on the campus of Kansas State, free parking is immediately adjacent.
A show by native son John Stuart Curry was up on our visit. The galleries are located on the second floor, necessitating a walk up stairs.
As university galleries go/ this is modest. Seems like wealthy alums choose to keep their art rather than donate to their alma mater

There isn't much to do (culturally) in Manhattan, KS, so I was gladly surprised to find this nice museum there. Though relatively small, the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum has very nice collections of paintings, sculptures and pottery by local artists. With great art, free parking and free admission, this should be one of the top attractions in Manhattan!

Everyone should take time to go the beach! It's always worth it and the changing exhibits are always wonderful! The permanent collection is such a great tribute to Kansas artists and the beach's building in itself is a wonderful contribution to Manhattan! Takes my vote of top place to visit in Manhattan, plus it's free!

I was surprised at how small the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art actually is. We visited this museum for the first time this month. I had read that there was a collection of John Steuart Curry paintings and prints. I was disappointed when I learned that they are not permanently on display. There was one large mural that Curry had painted int he early 1900s for a patron. That was about it. I was disappointed.

I loved the Reclaimed Creations by Sayaka Ganz. The suspended sculptures are lighted in such away that their shadows on the floor add an unexpected dimension.

Free parking available to the south of the museum. Free admission.

How can you beat free parking and admission in a college campus? Trick question - you can't. This art museum is a jewel tucked away off Anderson and 14th. It is immaculately maintained. Watch students pencil their favorite pieces. I enjoyed the White Cup. It reminded me that in our life's journey, there is much coffee, from a white cup. If you're touring K-State, take a respite and enjoy this museum.

First off, the orange Chihuly, breathtaking. My girls played a game of checkers while I browsed the exhibits. Jim Richardson, my favorite photographer, had a halls of Great Plains works. Beautiful painting of Poplars. Making this a yearly trip.

I love this place. Each time I'm in Manhattan, I try to stop in a check it out. They almost always have a Birger Sandzen on display, one of my very favorite. And the Andersson-Wise designed building is a piece of art in and of itself. I actually take photographs of the building most times I am there! Whoever set the Chihuly sculpture in the front stair case must be a genius. It is stunning, even from a distance.

About the only issues you might have are the parking, which is often hard to come by, and the lighting, which is inexplicably dim. Sure, they will tell you that the lower lighting protects the art work. But why is this the darkest of art museums I've seen? It's really off-putting.

Be sure to go to the Beach. You won't regret it.

We aren't art experts but we appreciate an opportunity like Marianna Kistle Beach Museum of Art. A wide variety of impressive art in a pleasant atmosphere. A lovely way to soak in some culture. We appreciate this gift to K-State and it's visitors.

This lovely museum may be lacking in size, but is certainly worth the visit for all those interested in Midwestern and Kansas art. Noteworthy pieces in the collection include those by Thomas Hart Benton, David Hicks Overmyer, John Steuart Curry, and Birger Sandzén. There is even a charming chandelier by Dale Chihuly. I look forward to this fine museum growing over the years.

The parking and admission are free.
