Downtown Lawrence is one of the most beautiful places in Kansas. The long avenue holds several businesses of different categories. The people there always wave and says hello even if they don't know you. It is extremely kid friendly and nice. During winter the decoration is beautiful. During summer time the long days help stores to receive a big amount... More

Something for everyone...especially food. Great quirky local shops with a few national retailers sprinkled in. You don't even have to shop because the walk (and people watching) is the best.

Great shops, places to eat, the trees planted by the edge of the sidewalk (amazingly beautiful lit up for Christmas, like something out of a Hallmark movie!)...all wonderful improvements from when I lived there.....I love the charm of the old buildings, be sure to look up to see the dates carved on the limestone buildings. Don't pass up the eastern... More

Lawrence is a quaint college town dating back to the 1860s. A park greets you on both ends of the downtown. This is an example of times past with a courthouse anchoring one end of Massachusetts street and the Kaw River bridge and City Hall the other. The street is lined with trees and flowers. Restaurants, sweet shops, KU-dominated apparel... More

Be sure to visit the Toy Shop, Acme T-shirt, Sarah's Fabrics, Yarn Barn, Made, Brits, Au Marche, and all of the other truly unique downtown stores! Our favorite restaurants from our last visit were Ingredient, Mad Greek, Wheatfields, and The Burger Stand.

The street has its charm with many places to stop by and enjoy them. Start from 6th street. Visit a unique candle store where displayed candles are each a piece of art. La Prima Taza will serve you different types of great coffees. Try my favorite one, a single shot cappuccino with an unsweetened almond milk! Visit the Liberty Hall... More

Let me just say, there were anonymous suburbs in my past, places I called home that were utterly devoid of personality. And then I came to Lawrence, KS, and met Mass. Street. It is always an adventure, locals are friendly, shops and bars and street musicians, twinkly lights and street parties are the best. It's the place we go to... More
