Travel 650 feet underground into an active salt mine! Experience a cool and soothing subterranean world formed by salt deposits in the Permian Sea long ago. See the raw mine as it was left more than 50 years ago on the Salt Mine Express train ride and catch a guided tour on a tram to the Dark Ride. You won't want to miss a special gallery filled with authentic movie costumes and memorabilia. And don't miss the SALT SAFARI add on tour. A one hour guided adventure tour that goes BEYOND STRATACA. See salt formations not available to the general public until now! Limited capacity -- only 12 visitors at a time depart 3-4 times a day.

We arrived at Strataca on a cold day in October 2017, just after lunch. The place was relatively empty; so we definitely had a feeling of having the place to ourselves. The staff was very friendly, and while we waited for our scheduled lift time...More

Don't miss out on this! Worth the time to go spend a couple hours 650 Ft. underground. Authentic salt mine that is still active and there is an underground storage facility(that you cannot tour). Staff is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Do the package deal where...More

It is just the most unusual experience to go down into this salt mine with its great history- both natural and man made. The train ride and the displays are highlights but it is the wonderful staff - friendly, knowledgeable and so thoughtful that take...More

We had heard about the salt mines as a piece of Kansas history which opened to teach about preservation. Wow, kids loved it and the two adults were in awe as to how famous movies are being preserved in time.

Isn't it fun to walk around a corner and see movie props from famous movies, and you never even expected it? Thanks for the great review.

It was pretty cool going down 600 feet below the ground and hang out at this huge salt mine. I did all the guided tours down there (the dark ride, safari shuttle, etc). The price for doing all the underground attractions was very reasonable. This...More

Still a functioning Salt Mine, with a very interesting past. The guides are usually retired miners with a vast knowledge and experience base. An enjoyable time to be sure. The ride down is very impressive when you consider that you're heading down 600+ feet. The...More

Had a great time going down into the salt mine. It was awesome seeing the inside of a mine and seeing how they can process it for use on our roads. It was also cool knowing I was 670 feet under ground! A cool thing...More

This tour totally exceeded my expectations. From the time we entered the hoist and descended 650 feet into the mine until we left, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and learned a ton. The self-paced exhibits at the beginning of the tour were very well done and...More
