This is a must visit! Call for reservations first. The tour begins at the Ellinwood Emporium. They give a history lesson on the tunnels and then you go underground to visit the past. It truly is a step back in time! Thank goodness the granddaughter of the original building owner would NOT let the City of Ellinwood fill this part... More

You need to call for reservations. This underground city was initially a city for cowboys and wagon train. There were all sort of shops, barber shop, bath house, saloons, and brothels(assumed but not documented) There is a restored speakeasy that is opened Friday and Saturday night.

Who would have thought that an entire underground complex of barber shops, blacksmith workshops, brothels, and connecting tunnels existed under the main streets of Ellinwood, Kansas? The underground tour was led by Rick, an erudite student of history and a great story teller. He took us down under the streets and introduced us to an underground world built over a... More

Our 11 yr old grandson has talked about this visit for 3-wks now to anyone who will listen. Definitely worth the visit! We didn't know the times for the tours so had to wait, but there is a wonderful little coffee shop across the street. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Both grandsons, 10 & 11, really enjoyed... More

The tour guides are both great storytellers! The preserved history is fascinating. Highly recommend this. I would go back and take friends.

A piece of history well worth keeping and seeing. You won't be sorry taking the time to see and learn about how things were done in days past.

We a local lady take us underground in Ellinwood. It was fascinating and even my three daughters aged 9, 7 and 5 liked it.

The Ellinwood underground is on the Santa Fe Trail not far from Great Bend, Kansas. They are both great places to visit. Ellinwood is a small farming town that was built as part of the Santa Fe Railrood expandtion westward. It is still the same size 1 mile square with red roads and all. There is not alot downtown but... More

I have family in Ellinwood and so we go there a lot. I went through the tunnels when I was a kid, but didn't really remember it. My fiancée and I were traveling and decided to set up an appointment to tour the tunnels. They were so much fun! There isn't a lot left, but it really gives you a... More
