The hidden gem in the highlands of Bahia, Brazil is a real challenge and deserve good attention if you find yourself in this fascinating part of the country. I went there with my wife for our 40th anniversary and, oh boy, what a trip.
Deep inside the earth, to go down is a real challenge since the rustic steps are irregular and you need to grab the ropes, not to fall. Coming up even bigger demand and lots of strength on your knees and legs.
But the gratification of the enchanted deep-Earth Lagoon is a visual miracle and outstanding beauty. You shall not regret the efforts.

Even though swimming is not permitted, it is definitely worth visiting this exquisite cave with waters of an indescribable turquoise hue. Access is pretty easy, and you’ll be welcomed by a family of very friendly marmosets.

Plan your trip so that this is one stop of several during the same day e.g. poço azul and Poço encantado can with planning be appreciated on the same day trip from Lençois. Or you can stay at one of several pousadas close byron the way to A ndaria. The whole point is to catch the sun illuminating the water. spectacular! at other times it costs as much but it just looks like a flooded cave.

The "poço encantado" is wonderful! Really pretty! Sunlight falls into the well until the first week of September. It is an image of another world. It is worthwhile to see it. Recommended!

easily accessible location. affordable price, but requires a minimum of preparation because the descent to the place is difficult. uneven steps. somewhat loose strings. the climb is even more complex. Of course, you can go at your own pace, but knowing in advance is better.

Until the 90s it was possible to dive in the well. Today is a contemplative walk. It's really beautiful, it's worth it, it's about 2 hours from Lençois. For those who have problems with stairs and steps, access may be a problem. As there are groups with a certain number of visitors, you may have to wait a while for your turn to get off.
