I have always said that if I went to Iowa I would go to see the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise. This place it small, but completely worth the stop. The museum was a fun stop, then we went...More

Small town with new things happening!! They told me that by Trek Fest the last weekend of June 2018, the lifesize bronze statue of Capt. Kirk will be installed in the park right across the street from the museum!! How exciting !!

So who in the world comes up with an entire town that will be on the map a couple hundred years from now? Very innovative! I particularly liked the story about the apple tree that little James would one day eat from. So funny! The...More

The marker itself is a little hard to find, it is literally in a lot behind a yellow house back off the street. Look for a small sign pointing out it's location. It is a great place for a photo op, but little else to...More

This is for the marker and not the museum, which is a separate location. This is a little tough to find--you need to find the street banner with a picture of Kirk that has "Birthplace" and an arrow underneath it, as the site is behind...More

This is a must if you are a Star Trek Fans! The museum is awesome and very informative! The Future Birthplace marker is behind a yellow house on the main street. Best of all the museum and marker have free admission!

If you are a Trekkie you should already have known about this place, if not and you just want a little off the beaten path "sightseeing", why not give this future historical site a try. The site itself it not very well marked from the...More

If you're not a Trekkie, I wouldn't advise you to go, but if you are, it's Heaven. Plenty of opportunities for photos and a free museum, which is an excellent place to buy souvenirs too. Trek fest is near the end of June.
