About
This 42-hectare garden used to be a former rubber and tea plantation but now has been transformed into a research and conservation area for wet zone flora in Sri Lanka. Here, you can marvel at gorgeous trees and flowers across the rose, medicinal and spice gardens, and also paddle out on the beautiful lake on a swan boat. You can also walk uphill to the viewpoint where you can get stunning views of the garden and the surrounding valley. Located less than 30 miles from Colombo, the garden is a great spot for a half-day tour from the Sri Lankan capital. – Tripadvisor

The garden is beautiful, the restaurant service was good. The security staff was good.

Myself and my son came on the 14th April in Odessy train which leaves every sunday and SL railways arranged the day trip along with a tourist bus.

After lunch myself and my ten year old son walked in the garden. We went above the office to the climax area in the park.

Then a lady from no where appeared and said there are thieves in the park and to be careful when inquired two idle minded young two men were there both of us were vigilant.

When we were planning to come down from the park bench area three suspicious type of three men were watching both of us vigilantly.

As soon as we got up to come down these three men followed us then i stop and ask are you all working men . They said NO.

I got panic soon i went near a security woman she was with a janitor named SUJEEWA. They too noticed these men reaction towards us. I needed protection as that area /path was lonely and not safe as due to these three men . One man had a wound in his ear in sarong. I informed the main gate and they too have noticed this man.

I looked for camaras nothing was INSTALLED at the entrance. It is better to install camaras in the future to track these type of thieves.

These three men were waiting till we were coming down . Like an angle sent this janitor my life and son was saved by the thieves.

I shall inform the Seethawaka police to petrol in this lonely areas as this could be done in the future to avoid people been nabbed by thieves.

Hope as the Manager in the park will take immediate action to stop thieves entering the park or take precautionary measures.

Thank you

As the place is so new, expected something half-finished like the Hambantota gardens which for now score mediocre.
Wrong! Both the valley part with lakes and wetlands and the outlook hill are superb, with a good variety of plants and trees. (No strong focus on flowers though). Even at weekends relatively calm due to the large size, and the swan boats for hire don't create much noise.
It felt and looked close to Peradeniya Gardens which is still the no. 1 botanical garden in the island, and upon further development might even surpass it!

one of the best botanical garden in Sri Lanka. very beautiful and calm. its contain more than 180 acres very nice calm place to visit, very clean and neat full of trees and lake can go by foot or they providing vehicle (we should pay for that) i suggest people to relax and spend time there for stress free life, there is a shop inside the garden near to main gate you can buy anything there (food) and best place for outdoor activities. I went to there with my family members (elders and youngers). but thank god there is no any couples romancing there like other gardens so kids and everyone can roam everywhere without any hesitation. ticket price for per person 100LKR if age above 60 and below 12 ticket price will be 20LKR (for Sri Lankan only)

Latest addition to Sri Lanka’s botanical garden list. Located not far from Colombo and reachable within 2 hours from Colombo. You don’t find much flowers here like other gardens in the island. But the landscaping is absolutely amazing with many wet zone plants. There’s some area to cover and it will take around 3 hours to complete the tour. If needed you can hire a buggy as well. Swan boat rides also available.
Good place to hang out with friends and specially for young couples to have some quality free time.
