Love lime creek!

All the trails are very nice and kinda flow into each other. The bugs usually aren't bad and lots of neat wildlife, pretty little birds, butterflies and even snakes & more. In the... read more

An old cement quarry and dump site that has been reclaimed into a great nature center. The remains of a very old brewery can be seen. Some great trails to hike, neat things to see inside the visitors center and loads of wildlife to see.

All the trails are very nice and kinda flow into each other. The bugs usually aren't bad and lots of neat wildlife, pretty little birds, butterflies and even snakes & more. In the fall when the leaves are changing is most beautiful but getting into the woods early-mid spring is awesome morel mushroom time. Found some last yr the size... More

This is a neat place to explore if you are into nature. After spending 7+ hours in a car, I was excited to get on the trails. Be sure to bring bug spray and you will have a great time exploring and learning about the history of the park.

When ever I want to get outside or get in the walking my heart doctor tells me is necessary, I head for the Lime Creek nature center and its beautiful trail along Lime Creek (also known as the Winnebago River). Wildlife, babbling brooks, and the great outdoors combine to make this a first rate nature center for all to enjoy.

They have many exhibits to look at inside which are very well displayed and descriptions as well. The kids love the boxes which they can touch and feel what is in the box and guess what it is. Outside are paved paths to go for a hike and enjoy the nature outdoors.

We stopped here on a road trip up from Des Moines to Minneapolis. With the kids, we like to get out and stretch. We decided to check out this nature center. It's a lovely, wooded area, and the kids got to explore a bit outside. Inside, they had a lot of information on the birds, trees, and wildlife native to... More

While in town for business I decided to check out the trails. There are a variety of loops and connections, all with different scenery. The trails were mostly wide and smooth, with a few natural rocky sections. Be sure and get a paper copy of the trails before you head out. There are lots of intersections, and a few are... More

We visited the Lime Creek Nature Center and found it to be a very informative and enjoyable place to visit. It is located in the reserve where there are many walking trails. The Center it's self is full of taxidermy examples of the animals that habituated in Iowa with information accompanying them. There are also live examples of some of... More

Beautiful retreat for long walks along the river. Nature at every step. Whether you are interested in flowers or plants or streams or wildlife -- the Lime Creek's easy to navigate paths provide a safe and quiet retreat from the everyday world. Benches along the walking paths allow one to stop and truly enjoy the sights and sounds.
